In a two-speed epicyclic gear of a bevel differential axle of the kind in which, for reduced ratio, a sun 16 is held by an internallytoothed brake ring 21, the latter is externally toothed at 25 for fixed engagement, around its entire circumference, with internal teeth in the casing and axially retained therein by a circlip 29, or disc, the meshing teeth 25 being chamfered around an arc (Fig. 2, not shown), to facilitate assembly of the circlip which is retained by inserting at least one bent end in a tooth gap or hole in a tooth.
