961,221. Fluid pressure brakes. FABBRICA ITALIANA MAGNETI MARELLI S.p.A. May 2, 1961 [May 27, 1960], No. 15807/61. Heading F2F. A dual control B for a compressed-air distributer valve A of a vehicle braking system comprises a pneumatic or hydraulic piston and a mechanical control, shown as a push-rod 7, the piston and mechanical elements being disengageable so that one acts independently of the other. As shown, compressed air or oil are supplied to an inlet 2 in the housing of the piston 1. The piston-rod 6 of the piston 1 acts on an abutment plate 5 of the control rod 4 of the distributer valve A in opposition to the action of the return spring 3. The control rod 4 engages with a push-rod 8 on a movable cap of a spring 10 operating on a piston 11 which slides in an air-tight manner in a chamber 12 of the distributer valve A. The chamber 12 is connected through an inlet 13 to the operating cylinders of an associated braking element. The piston 11 has a regulating spring 14 and a drilled push-rod 15, the operating extremity of the latter resting in an air-tight manner during braking phases on a corresponding inlet valve 16 located in the chamber 17 which is connected by an inlet 18 with a compressed air reservoir of a pneumatic braking system. In a modification the return spring of the rod 4 may be the same as those of the distributer valve A. In other modifications the twin control is shown connected to distributer valves comprising two and three sections.
