An electric switch movable in either directions from a datum position and returnable to the datum position by a synchronous motor, utilizes a motor indiscriminately rotatable and an abutment device to ensure that it rotates in the required direction to return the switch to datum. The mechanism operates cams to operate the appropriate switch dependent on the direction of displacement and also to deenergize the motor at datum. Two abutments 23, 24 on plate 22 engage stops 25, 26 and are selected by the positioning of fork 28 so that in accordance with the direction of motions of the activating mechanisms the motor is allowed to rotate only in the reverse direction to zero the device. Cams 34, 35 actuate the switch contacts. Specification 960,694 is referred to.
