Abstract

960,650. Snap-action switches. WARD & GOLDSTONE Ltd. Feb. 7, 1963 [Nov. 9, 1961], No. 40120/61. Heading H2B. In a switch comprising a double ended rockable dolly 31, a contact bar 21 carrying a contact 25 is pivoted in grooves 15 in a stamping 13, with an extension 19 of the stamping passing through a slot 20 in the bar 21 and supporting one end of a tension spring 23, the other end being attached to the bar 21. The dolly 31 is pivoted in grooves 16 in the stamping and held in place by a spring 34 supported between a cross-pin 35 and the extension 19. When the dolly is pivoted, one end engages and depresses the bar 21 until the tension spring 23 moves over centre and snaps contact 25 into engagement with fixed contact 26. The stamping 13 and extension 19 are connected, by a lug 17, to a terminal 18. The switch may be a double-pole (as shown) or single pole switch.
