Abstract

960,518. Surgical syringes. A. STRAZDIUS, and S. C. STYLIS, June 13, 1962 [June 13, 1961; Sept. 19, 1961], No. 22736/61. Heading A5R. A syringe comprises two, part-spherical, mating shells, joined together around their edges to form a container for medicament and one shell has a V-shaped groove adjacent its joined edge to facilitate its collapse into the second shell on the application of pressure. The syringe described comprises a fluid container formed from two flexible, part-spherical portions 1, 6, the latter carrying, at its centre, a tubular member 8 while the former has a grooved plunger 4, slidable within the member 8. The free end of the tubular member 8 carries a nozzle 9, which may, if desired, be modified to receive a hypodermic needle, and a closure cap 11, retained by a head 10, is fitted over the end of the nozzle to retain the contents until required. Adjacent its periphery, the rear shell portion 1 has a V-shaped corrugation which facilitates the inward folding of the portion 1 when the contents are being discharged.
