Abstract

960,318. Lampholders; snap-action switches. S. LILLEY & SONS Ltd. April 16, 1963 [May 8, 1962], No. 17565/62. Headings H2B and H2E. A lampholder (Fig. 1) includes a switch comprising a movable coil spring 24 of conducting material and an operating member 18 which causes the spring to move between two extreme positions with an over dead centre action, so that in the first (" on ") position the spring makes a bridging connection (Fig. 4) and in the second (" off ") breaks it (Fig. 5). The spring 24, which may be of phosphor bronze or coppered or stainless steel, is mounted in recesses 23, 21, between terminal 22 and the pivoted operating member 18, such that in both positions of member 18, it is under compression. In the " on " position (Fig. 4) the spring makes connection between terminal 22 and a channel section member 26, which is secured by means of a screw 27 (Fig. 3, not shown) to one of the plunger contacts 11. The other plunger 11 is the extension of terminal 25. In the " off " position (Fig. 5), the spring has flipped through dead centre and breaks contact with member 26. An Edison-type lamp coupling may be used.
