Abstract

960,217. Hand carriers for beaded cans, ILLINOIS TOOL WORKS Inc. July 18, 1960 [July 17, 1959], No. 24999/60. Heading A4G. [Also in Division B8] A device 39 for carrying beaded cans comprises a plurality of interconnected bead-engaging means 40 so shaped that a substantial arcuate extent of each can bead is engaged and/or enclosed on all sides, Figs. 6 and 17. As carrying means, a wire handle 53 may be used, or areas 51 may be apertured to receive an alternative form of handle or these areas may be cut out to act as finger holes. Several further embodiments are described for different configurations of three cans. In Fig. 13, the bead engaging means 40b has a detachable tear strip 60 integrally moulded thereto and a hole 63 in the planar surface 46b allows attachment of a handle. In a linear configuration the bead engaging means is formed in halves which are engaged with the cans and then joined by a strip of adhesive tape 80, Fig. 17. The planar surface 46c is provided with handle-receiving holes. In a modification, Fig. 19, two sets of three cans in end to end relationship can be carried by means of a flexible handle 90.
