Abstract
Non-sticky free-flowing moulding materials which can be hardened at elevated temperature and pressure are formed by reacting a solid unsaturated polyester of suitable softening point with hexahydro-1, 3, 5-tris-acrylyl-s-triazine, if desired in the presence of an accelerator, which moulding materials may also contain inert fillers and fluxes. Preferably the glycols used in the preparation of the unsaturated polyester are or include perhydro-2, 2-di-(4-hydroxyphenyl) propane or dihydroxyalkyl ethers of 2, 2-(dihydroxyphenyl) propane, or mixtures thereof with conventional aliphatic diols. Fillers, lubricants and fluxes mentioned are kaolin, chalk, asbestos, talcum, glass staple fibers, metal stearates, waxes and powdered polyethylene. Accelerators mentioned are dicumyl and benzoyl peroxides and p-tert.-butyl benzoate. In the example a finely ground polyester obtained from fumaric acid and 2,2-di-4-hydroxypropoxyphenyl propane, and stabilized with hydroquinone, is mixed with hexahydro-1, 3, 5-tris acrylyl-s-triazine, zinc stearate, talcum, chalk, benzoyl and dicumyl peroxides, on a mixing roller at 70 DEG to 100 DEG C.; glass fibers are then added and the rolled sheet further processed. The moulding material can be used in the preparation of laminates.
