Abstract
959,462. Electromechanical filters. TELEFUNKEN A.G. Feb. 22, 1961 [March 1, 1960], No. 6472/61. Addition to 842,194. Heading H3U. The longitudinally-vibrating cylindrical resonators used in the filter described in the parent Specification, are replaced by resonators of parallelepipedal shape. The resonators may be in the form of blocks 1, Fig. 1, coupled by wires 3 or the whole system, including resonators 12 and couplers 20, 21, Fig. 5, may be stamped out of a metal lamina. The couplers vibrate in a flexural mode. The degree of coupling is determined by the distance of the points of attachment of the couplers from the centres of the resonators, being a maximum when the couplers are attached, as in Fig. 1, to the extremities of the resonators where the vibrational amplitude is greatest. The coupling wires 3 are attached by welding and may consist of several short lengths or may run the whole length of the filter being connected, where necessary, to end supports. In constructions where the couplers, e.g. 13, Fig. 3a, are at one or both extremities of the (laminar) resonators, the edge or edges of the resonators and the couplers may lie in planes at rightangles to the main plane of the filter.
