Abstract

959,243. Compressors. R. HINTZE. July 16, 1962 [July 24, 1961], No. 27249/62. Heading F1N. A compressor cylinder 6, a valve plate 7 closing one end thereof and a cover 8 are clamped together and to a fixed beaming plate 1 in such a manner that the cylinder 6, plate 7 and cover 8 are axially adjustable as one unit relative to the piston 5 thereby allowing the clearance between the piston at top dead centre position and the valve plate to be adjusted to compensate for manufacturing tolerances. As shown a clamping screw 10 adjusts members 6, 7, 8 against the action of a spring washer 11 interposed between flanges of the cylinder and bearing plate. In a modification members 6, 7, 8 are clamped by a spring yoke 19 Fig. 3 (not shown) and axial adjustment is effected by a screw threaded member.
