Abstract

958,571. Transistor pulse circuits. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 4, 1960 [Aug. 25, 1959], No. 28956/59. Heading H3T. A pulse generator comprises a first transistor 1 rendered conductive by an input pulse 15 so as to set a tuned circuit 7, 8 into oscillation, a second transistor 10 being rendered conductive to generate a pulse 17 when the circuit 7, 8 has executed one quarter cycle of oscillation 16. The emitters of the transistors 1, 10 are grounded and the resistance of the base circuits are sufficiently low to enable the transistors to operate with respect to D.C. conditions effectively as grounded base transistors and hence permit operation at higher temperatures. Pulse 15 is preferably provided by differentiating a longer pulse 4 by transformer 3. In an alternative arrangement, the emitter of transistor 1 is coupled to the base of transistor 10 by means of a series capacitor and shunt inductor. The input pulse to transistor 1 should now last until the output pulse 17 has been completed.
