957,988. Road cleaning machines. WOMAAPPARATEBAU WOLFGANG MAASBERG & CO. G.m.b.H. Jan. 31, 1962 [Feb. 1, 1961], No. 3635/62. Heading E1G. In a method of and apparatus for cleaning road and like foundations, a high pressure pump 3 supplies water to nozzles 2 at 50-100 atmospheres gauge and the jets 10 from the nozzles impinge on the surface to be cleaned at an angle of approximately 30 degrees. A collector gutter 12 ahead of the nozzle tube 1 is drained by a line 14 connected to a suction pump 13 and a settling tank 9. The nozzle tube may, as shown, be at right angles to the direction of travel of the vehicle on which it is mounted with the gutter 12 arranged at an angle to the tube and closer to it at the nearside of the vehicle, shown here for the right hand rule of the road, or both the gutter 12 and tube 1 may be inclined to the direction of travel.
