Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of formula: <FORM:0957237/C2/1> where R, R1 and R2 are C1-4 alkyl and X is oxygen or sulphur. They may be prepared by reacting appropriate O,O-dialkyl phosphites or thiophosphites with appropriate nitrophenylsulphenic acid chlorides, e.g. in an organic solvent at 20-40 DEG C. The hydrogen chloride formed may be removed by washing or by means of an acid-binding agent. The products are pesticides. 2- and 3-methyl-4-nitrophenyl sulphenic acid chlorides used as starting materials are prepared by the action of chlorine on 2,21- and 3,31-dimethyl-4 41-dinitro-diphenyl disulphides respectively. Specification 819,672 is referred to.ALSO:Pesticidal compositions comprise thiophosphoric esters of formula <FORM:0957237/A5-A6/1> where R, R1 and R2 are C1-4 alkyl and X is oxygen or sulphur (for preparation see Division C2) together with a solid or liquid carrier (e.g. in solution). Specification 819,672 is referred to.
