957,213. Chimney linings. R. K. MATTHEWS. May 3, 1962 [May 9, 1961], No. 16752/61. Heading F4J. A flue liner comprises a flexible tube of fireproof such as pressed, woven felted or plaited asbestos or slag wool and which may be impregnated with a suitable composition which will set by the application of heat or a curing agent. The liner may take the form of a simple tube with or without reinforcement such as wire rings or a wire spiral. The liner may be held temporarily within the flue by an inflatable tube pressing it against the flue whilst setting occurs. The liner may also be fixed in the chimney by injecting a fireproof cement grout between the inflatable tube and the liner. An embodiment, Fig. 8, has a metal bellows type lower section 23 fixed at the fireplace throat 32 by filling the endless tube 35 with a fireproof cement grout and a flexible upper section 24. This section may be fixed by turning the end over the chimney top to form a cuff and applying a clip, Fig. 2 (not shown).
