Abstract
956,760. Extruding rods, tubes &c. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 16, 1963 [April 19, 1962], No. 14844/63. Heading B5A. A rod or tube 2 of, e.g. ceramic material, is extruded downwardly from an extruder 1 and drawn upwardly through a sintering oven 3 by a pulling mechanism 4, the sintered rod or tube thus formed being cut into lengths by a knife 5. The portion of the rod or tube intermediate the extruder and the oven hangs freely in a loop 8, the length of which controls the extrusion rate, the controlling mechanism being photo-electric cells 7. The rod may be dried, prior to sintering, within the oven itself, or may be dried by a separate device 6, such as an infra-red radiator, before entering the oven.
