Abstract
956,724. Transformers. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Nov. 16, 1960 [Nov. 20, 1959], No. 39350/60. Heading H1T. [Also in Division H2] Conformable conductor spacing blocks 4 (Fig. 2) e.g. for stator and transformer windings are made from glass fibre filled thermosetting resin. The fibres are oriented in one direction and the block initially has the consistency of stiff putty. The block is placed between two conductors and compressed so that it conforms to their shape and is held rigidly in position by heating. Alternatively it may initially be held in position with glass fibre cord (Fig. 3, not shown) and may be fitting during or after the construction of the winding. Any thermosetting resin can be used including epoxy and polyester resin, and examples of suitable constituents for the blocks are described. U.S.A. Specification 2,308,495 is referred to.
