955,915. Friction clutches. TRAKTORENWERK SCHONEBECK VEB. July 19, 1962, No. 27775/62. Heading F2C. A selectively-operable double friction clutch for connecting an engine-driven flywheel 1 to either or both of two concentric output shafts 2, 3 (Figs. 3, 4, not shown), or, as shown, 3, 2, driving respectively a power take-off and the road wheels of a tractor comprises two conical or, as shown, flat-driven plates 5, 4, splined on the output shafts 3, 2 and clamped against the flywheel 1 and a cover 9 thereof by spring-urged presser plates 8, 12, levers 14 operable to withdraw first the road wheels presser plate, 12 as shown, and then additionally the power take-off presser plate, 8 as shown, and levers 17 operable to withdraw the power take-off presser plate irrespective of the withdrawal of the road wheel presser plate. After withdrawal of the power take-off presser plate by the levers 17 the road wheels presser plate may be withdrawn by the levers 14. As shown, the presser plates 8, 12 are urged apart by springs 20 and the presser plate 8 is additionally leftwardly urged by springs 21 coaxial with those 20 and reacting on the cover 9. The presser plates 8, 12 are connected to the levers 14 by studs 15, 13 having fulcrum nuts 16 and pivot-pins 32 about which the levers 14 successively pivot whilst successively acting on the presser plates 12, 8. The presser plate 8 is connected to the levers 17 by studs 18. Axial displacement of the presser plates 12, 8 is limited by threaded studs 26, 29 having lock nuts 27, 30. The levers 14, 17 are respectively actuated, through release bearings 25, 24, by operating levers 23, 22, the latter being controlled by a pedal or hand lever detent-locked in its operated position for continuous interruption of the power take-off drive. In Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), the presser plate 12 is acted on by the additional springs 21 and is connected to the levers 17.
