Abstract
955, 841. Opening and cleaning fibres. JOH. JACOB RIETER & CIE. A.G. Jan. 24, 1961 [Feb, 13, 1960], No. 2787/61. Heading D1N. A fibre opening and cleaning machine has two sawtooth rollers arranged to rotate in opposite senses and with corresponding teeth dimensions, the point circles of the two rollers being spaced by substantially a half of the radial height of a tooth. The first roller is spaced from a nip feed by the equivalent of from a half to the full radial height of a tooth. One form of apparatus has a feed roller 4 co-operating with pedal levers 3 and arranged to supply fibres to a sawtooth roller 6 with teeth of radial height of about 6-7 mm. This roller is mounted over a trash ejecting zone and waste collector 12. The second sawtooth roller 10 is spaced from the first so that the point circles are from 2-4 mm. apart; it rotates more slowly than the first roller. A rotary dust drum 19 serves to convey the fibres to a further cleaning zone consisting of a roller 31 and associated knives.
