A punching &c. tool comprises bars 1, 2, attachable to the ram and bed respectively of a press (not shown), a plurality of dies, punches 11 &c. mounted slidably in guide means 5 on the bar 1, co-operating tools 25 mounted slidably in guide means 5a on the bar 2, and means 20, 21, 21a for clamping the tools after adjustment. The tools are clamped in the guides 5, 5a by bolts 21, 21a and T-nuts 20, the bolts passing through slots 9, 10 in the toolholders 6, 7 to permit lateral adjustments. A stripper 13 in a sleeve 15 is engaged by springs 17 retained by a clip 18 in the sleeve; which has a bayonet-attachment with the holder 6. The T-nuts of each tool may be in one or both guides of the bars, which are guided by pins 4 and sleeves. Stops 27 of bar or other form may guide the sides of the work, and others may operate in succession to limit the insertion of the work. The stops are secured adjustably in the guides 5a. Waste escapes from the dies through side passages (Fig. 6, not shown). The punches 11 may be of circular, rectangular or other cross-sections. In a modification (Fig. 10, not shown), each bar 1b, 2b has four guidegrooves any two of which may support the tools. Specification 955,667 is referred to.
