Abstract

953,848. Telegraphy. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. Feb. 21, 1963 [Feb. 22, 1962], No. 6961/63. Heading H4P. The invention provides a device for compensating for D.C. superimposed on a demodulated F.M. signal. The demodulated signal controls the switching of a trigger circuit which is such that it is switched when the signal is a predetermined potential above the maximum negative potential of the signal and is switched back again when the signal is at an equ potential below the following maximum positive of the signal. For example, the output of discriminator DS, Fig. 1, is waveform DS, Fig. 3, which has a D.C. bias #U. The range over which diodes D1, D2 do not conduct is C-R1 to R1-C. The potentials C and R1 vary with the demodulated signal as shown, and it is the potential DS-R1 that is used to trigger the bi-stable circuit that forms the remainder of the circuit. The output of the bi-stable circuit is a waveform having square flanks and equal positive and negative excursions. Diodes D1, D2 may be replaced by Zener diode arrangements or by a varistor, Figs. 4-6 (not shown).
