Abstract

952,538. Resistors. S.A. DE MACHINES ELECTROSTATIQUES. Feb. 20, 1962 [Feb. 20, 1961], No. 6585/62. Drawings to Specification. Heading H1S. [Also in Division B5] In a method of forming an electrical part of high resistivity a powdered dielectric material is mixed with sufficient resinous binder to render the mix readily shapeable, the mixture is placed in a mould and subjected to centrifugal force to concentrate the dielectric powder in a region of the mould, the mixture is set, the part is then removed from the mould and that portion thereof having the higher proportion of resinous binder is machined off. The electrical part to be formed may be tubular and formed in a rotating annular mould. The powdered dielectric material concentrates in an outer zone and the inner zone is afterwards machined off. The dielectric powder may be glass, ceramic, or a silicon carbide, and the resinous binder an epoxy ethoxy, or polyester resin. The binder may contain an electrically conductive addition such as a plasticizer or anti-static agent.
