Abstract

952,495. Retractive switches. R. B. DENISON. May 3,1961 [May 3, 1960], No. 16110/61. Heading H2B. In a snap-action limit switch a return spring 16 is biased either clockwise CW or counterclockwise CCW by a reversible control plate 85, according as finger 85d or 85c of the plate is located between the ends 16a, 16b, of spring 16, and correspondingly causes operating lever 19 of the switch to have a self-return action in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction. Fixed contacts 40...43 are slidably received in shaped recesses of a contact block 31 in housing 10 and have rigid terminal portions 105 extending therefrom for engagement in corresponding terminals 133 connected to lead-in wires 135 in a complementary housing part 130. A pivoted moving contact carrier arm 46 for bridging the fixed contacts 40, 41, or 42, 43, is coupled with a latching member 57 moved by actuator arm C on operation of the lever 19, a spring 70 providing snap-action movement when latching dog 80 or 81 is moved clear of cam segment 64 or 65 of the latching member 57 as the actuator arm C moves.
