Abstract
952,271. Gas burners. J. H. FLYNN. Aug. 24, 1962, No. 32681/62. Heading F4T. A gas burner comprises a casing 12 having a longitudinal outlet slot 16 containing a side-byside group of identical corrugated metal ribbons 28 assembled in sets with their corrugations intermeshed to form auxiliary gas passages 22 therebetween, each set being laterally aligned and inverted with respect to an adjacent set to define main gas passages 20 therebetween. The two outermost ribbons form marginal gas passages 24 with the sides of the burner slot. The maximum width of the auxiliary passages 22 are nearer to one-half the thickness than equal to the thickness of the ribbons. The distance d between successive corrugations on the same side of each ribbon is at least four times the depth y of each corrugation. The ribbons 28 may conveniently be spot-welded to each other to facilitate assembly and may be secured in the burner slot by cross-pins. Fig. 7 (not shown) has four sets of ribbons forming three rows of main gas passages. The ribbons may be uniformly corrugated in sinuous-like fashion as shown or alternatively straight flanks may be disposed between curved crests.
