951,909. Games; toys. M. J. GLASS, [trading as MARVIN GLASS & ASSOCIATES]. Dec. 12, 1962 [Jan. 10, 1962], No. 46964/62. Headings A6H and A6S. [Also in Division E2] Apparatus for playing a game includes a target 14 comprising two parts 28, 30 hinged together at 32 and urged towards their closed positions by a spring 42, and latch mechanism 44 for holding the target open against the action of spring 42, the latch mechanism being such as to be released upon entry into the target 14 of a missile 10. The latch mechanism comprises hooks 46 and 48 integral respectively with platforms 34, 36 pivotally mounted one in each part of the target 14, the hooks being held in engagement when the target is open by the spring 50 acting on the platform 34 (to an extent which is limited by stop 52), and by the weight of the platform 36 acting at the pivot 40. The strength of the spring 50 is such that the weight of the missile 10 falling upon either platform is sufficient to break the engagement of the hooks, whereupon the spring 42 acts to close the target. The missile 10 is hollow, oval in cross-section, and made of plastics material, and the apparatus further comprises a striking appliance 12.
