951,222. Welding by fusion. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. Oct. 9, 1962 [July 27, 1961], No. 27253/61. Heading B3R. [Also in Division H2] In a gas shielded non-consumable electrode arc welding system, a series of negative and positive pulses of current are supplied to the electrodes, the amount of power at negative polarity being between two and eight times that at positive polarity. The pulses may be of the same amplitude supplied from a D.C. source through a mechanical polarity reversing arrangement, or may be supplied from an A.C. source 10 through controlled rectifiers 18-22 triggered to give say three negative pulses to one positive pulse.
