Abstract

951,171. Filters. SOC. ETABLISSEMENTS G. PEPIN FILS AINE & SOC. DU FILTRE GASQUET. July 27, 1962 [Dec. 28, 1961], No. 28993/62. Heading BID. A filter comprises a number of filter elements 7, Fig. 1, mounted on a rotatable collecting column 8, disposed axially inside a cylindrical tank 5. The column is mounted on a fixed circular cover 1 integral with carriage 2. Cylindrical tank 5 is integral with support 6 capable of sliding on carriage 2. Liquid to be filtered is admitted through 27, Fig. 3, passes inwardly through the filter elements, and is discharged through column 8, connected by cylindrical portion 9 to outlet 28, 29. Drainage is effected from outlet 30, covered with a filtering surface. Rotation of the filter elements and column 8 is effected by engaging pins 34, on a distributer plate 33, with pinion 35 keyed on to shaft 36 which protrudes from the cover 1 and is driven by motor 37. The assembly comprising filter elements and column is thus set into rotation under jets of washing water emitted from holes in pipe 31. Washing water is evacuated through 39. The cover 1 is provided, at its centre, with means for opening, closing and locking the tank. The closing and opening device comprises radially disposed levers 11 engaging in stirrup members at the edge of the tank. Towards the centre, the levers are integral with stirrup members 13 mounted on plate 14 concentric with spindle 15. Plate 14 is integral with bush 16 on which are mounted manipulating levers 17 acting on rollers 18 which are fixed on levers 11 and are in engagement with groove in the form of cams on plate 14. By turning levers 17, rollers 18 are made to approach or move away from spindle 15, causing levers 11 to slide along in opening or closing direction. The locking device is a nut 19 provided with levers 20, and which screws itself on bush 16 keyed on spindle 15. The filtering elements may comprise two discs of fabric 21, Fig. 4, supporting a filtering material e.g. kieselguhr or infusional earth. The discs are kept apart by a mounting 22, e.g. a metallic lattice. A folded sheet metal 23 ensures tightness at the periphery.
