The fuel electrode of a cell is made of a non- porous plastic polymer and the fuel is soluble in and diffuses through, the electrode. The surface of the electrode fronting the electrolyte has a conventional catalyst coating. The polymer may be polyethylene, polyamide or polyvinyl type copolymers. The fuels may be ethane, ethylene or hydrazine or other alcohols or hydrocarbons. Lists of fuels and polymer are given.
