Abstract

950,773. Shoots; conveyers. DAWSON BROS. Ltd. Nov. 6, 1962 [Oct. 25, 1961], No. 38152/61. Headings B8A and B8S. In delivering bottles from a washing machine (not shown) on to a conveyer 4, a row of rotary control members lower the bottles and then move them on to the conveyer. The bottles, after travelling down arcuate retainer bars 1, are discharged into guides 2, each guide having a central fin and side flanges. The flanges of adjacent guides form a sliding surface for the bottles and have vertical gaps between them in which operate the rotary control members. A control member consists of two half-plates 5, each plate having a step or ledge 6 covered with a shock-reducing strip 7 of rubber or synthetic plastic material and having an eccentric cam surface 8. The pairs of plates are secured on a shaft 9 which is driven continuously in phase with the speed of delivery of the bottles into the guides 2. Each bottle sits upon a step 6 and is lowered by the plate 5 until deposited upon bottom surfaces 3 of the guides 2. The following cam face 8 then pushes the bottle on to the conveyer 4. The control members may be of two-piece construction, one piece having the step or ledge and the other piece having the bottle-pushing device.
