Abstract

950,492. Controlling aircraft. SHORT BROS. & HARLAND Ltd. Feb. 9, 1962 [March 2, 1961], No. 7685/61. Heading B7G. In a V.T.O.L. aircraft controlled and stabilized both by aerodynamic control surfaces D and jet nozzles E control mechanism is provided comprising a high-rate servomotor B and a low-rate servomotor A respectively coupled to opposite ends of a differential lever C, which is provided with further connections CD and CE to the surface D and nozzle E respectively. The arrangement is such that the nozzle E is subjected to direct control by motor B whereas surface D is subjected to the algebraic sum of the outputs of both servomotors.
