Abstract

950,171. Nail clippers. SCHOLL MFG. CO. Ltd. Sept. 14, 1962 [Sept. 14, 1961], No. 35170/62. Heading A5R. Nail clippers comprise a pair of leaves 1, 2 secured together at one end and urged apart at the other end, co-operating knife edges 10, 12 secured one to the side of the free end of each leaf and means 6 operable to bring the knife edges together. The knife edges 10, 12 are carried by lateral extensions of the free ends of the leaves which extensions extend parallel to the longitudinal axes of the leaves. The knife edges are deepest at their outermost ends and may be concavely curved in a plane normal to the direction of their cutting action for cutting finger-nails. A stud 4 on the free end of one leaf 2 projects through the other leaf and has a notch 5 engaged by a cross-bar 8 of a bifurcated lever 6. The lever is used to press the knife edges together against the resilience of the leaves.
