Abstract

947,918. Submarine explorations apparatus. D. I. REBIKOFF. March 22, 1960 [Aug. 25, 1959; Nov. 23, 1959; Dec. 30, 1959], No. 10153/60. Heading B7A. The apparatus comprises a remote-controlled submarine device 4, Fig. 1, and a control station 1 for actuating the device and for receiving information from it. The control station can be located on a ship, aircraft, balloon or on land and can send signals directly to the device 4 through the cable 3 or can send signals as radio waves to a " transducer " relay device 2 located in a dingy or submarine. The compartment of the device 4 containing the television camera 13, gyroscopes 15, 16 and depth telemanometer 17 is water-tight as is the float 10, but the rest of the hull holds water. The vehicle is provided with a steering rudder 18 fitted with a servomotor 18a and a depth rudder 19 controlled by elevators 20, 20<SP>1</SP>, each provided with servomotors 20a, 20a<SP>1</SP>.
