[Also in Division E2] A series of clips connected together to form a single unit, e.g. for holding miniature valves and other electronic components and also for dissipating heat is formed from a blank of strip form, the blank being slit lengthwise and crosswise to form along the blank a succession of lengthwise extending tongues and to leave portions of the blank extending lengthwise along the tongues and connecting the root portions thereof, the tongues being bent out of the plane of the blank to provide the clips and the connecting portions being doubled on themselves between the tongues. In one form, shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the tongues are formed by lengthwise slits 11 and crosswise slits 12 in a strip of beryllium-copper and pairs of tongues 18 have a common root portion 21 with connecting portions 22 joining the root portions on each side of the tongues, these connecting portions being bent to U-shape. The root portions are also slit to form tags 15 which are bent out of the blank on the opposite side to the tongues to enable the clips to be connected to a board by passing the tags through apertures in the board, ears on the tags engaging the under-surface of the board. In a second construction, Figs. 4 and 6, the blank has lengthwise slits 40, 41 and crosswise slits 42, 43 to provide tongues which extend in opposite directions from common root portions 46, there being a single tongue 44 centrally on one side of the root portion and two laterally spaced tongues 45 on the other side of the root portion the tongues being bent up and over to form with the root portions clips which embrace a large part of an article. The root portions are connected by connecting portions 22 which are bent to U-shape as previously. In this form also the root portions are provided with tags as previously.
