Abstract

A disc of agglomerated glass powder for use as an extrusion die lubricant (see Division B3), comprises the following parts by weight: glass powder 97; sodium silicate 2; water 1. The glass powder is preferably of ordinary lime-soda window glass of a grain size to pass at least 70% through a screen of 50 meshes per inch. Phosphoric acid may be used as a binder instead of sodium silicate or alternatively the disc may be formed by sintering a compacted or uncompacted body of glass powder.
