Abstract
536,606. Squirting. MAGNESIUM ELECTRON, Ltd. (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). Sept. 13, 1939, Nos. 25760 and 31943. [Class 83 (iv)] Profile sections are extruded in - a press in which a hollow billet and mandrel or mandrel assembly are extruded together through a die opening that guides the mandrel by direct contact therewith. In extruding taper sections the smaller end of the tapering section is extruded first. A mandrel 2, Fig. 3, introduced into a tapering recess in the billet, produced during the casting thereof, has grooves 3 for the production of tapering bars of T-section the smaller end having the section shown in Fig. 2. The mandrel is guided by the die but does not contact the walls of the container. A mandrel 11, Figs. 5 and 6, is guided in the die 13 by ribs 11a to produce two tapering angle bars, Fig. 7. Other forms are illustrated for the production of channel and H-sections that shown in Fig. 11 producing a single H-bar of varying crosssection by the use of two symmetrically arranged mandrels 11c, 11d. Bars tapering from each end towards the centre may be produced. Specification 533,082 is referred to.
