946,467. Egg cartons. PACKAGING CORPORATION OF AMERICA. Nov. 23, 1960 [March 28, 1960], No. 40244/60. Heading B8P. A separator for layers of egg cartons packed in a shipping case may be of moulded pulp or of paperboard and has a number of dished portions 20-22, Fig. 4, so that the contents of a broken egg will be confined adjacent the carton containing the broken egg. The separators have a certain resilience so that the lid 11T of a full case has to be pressed down thus holding the cartons firmly in position. If necessary, an additional sheet can be placed on the upper row of cartons to ensure that the cartons are firmly packed. When made of pulp, the thickness of the dry product may be 1/16 of an inch and the marginal portion may rise # of an inch above the upper surface of the separator. U.S.A.
