[Also in Division C3] A substrate, e.g. a packaging film is extrusion coated with a composition which comprises a polyethylene prepared by catalytically polymerizing ethylene (A) at 490-510‹ F. and 19,000-23,800 p.s.i., to which carbon black has been added and which has then been mixed with a polyethylene; (B) prepared by catalytically polymerizing ethylene at 490- 510‹ F. and 20,000-25,500 p.s.i. A peroxide catalyst may be used, e.g. di-t-butyl or perbenzoate. 1-3 parts carbon black may be used with 5-8 parts polyethylene (A) with 91-92 parts polyethylene (B). The substrate may be paper, paperboard or an aluminium foil.
