Abstract

In a process for the production of an animal feeding stuff comprising cereal and molasses a mixture of whole cereal grain (e.g. barley) and molasses are passed through a compaction zone which breaks the pericarp of the cereal grain, the quantity of molasses being such that the product is non sticky and dust free. Up to 5% of other additives (magnesite, urea, minerals) may be present in the feed and may be dispersed in the molasses before mixing with the cereal or added to the molasses-cereal mix prior to compaction. In the absence of magnesite the amount of molasses present is 2 1/2 % to 10%. If magnesite is present 2 1/2 % to 7% molasses is used.
