Abstract
Low pressure polymer solutions and dispersions which result from the low pressure polymerization of olefines, diolefines and mixtures thereof with the acid of mixed catalysts of compounds of elements of sub-group IV-VI and VIII of the Mendeleeff Periodic System, and of organo-metallic compounds of metals of group I-III in the presence of inert solvents, are worked up by a treatment with decomposing agents wherein the polymer particles present in the initial dispersions, or formed by precipitation in the initial polymer solutions following treatment with decomposing agents which also act as precipitation agents. are subjected to disintegrating shearing and vibratory forces. The polymers may be derived from ethylene, propylene, a -butylene, butadiene or styrene. Disintegration may be produced by treating the polymer particles with a mechanical disintegrator, with a rotor-stator or antirotor and/or by spraying through a nozzle alone or with the decomposing agent. The catalysts may be of the Ziegler type and the inert solvent may be a hydrocarbon. The decomposing agents may be alcohols, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, esters, lactones, acids, salts and/or their aqueous solutions.
