Abstract
Compositions for treating masonry surfaces exposed to the atmosphere comprise water-free solutions of an organosiloxane suitable per se for the weatherproofing of masonry and an organic silicate in an organic solvent. The organic silicates specified are ethyl silicate or "Silester O" which is believed to contain tetraethyl orthosilicate ("Silester" is a Registered Trade Mark) and the organosiloxane specified is "Drisil 29" which is believed to be the partial hydrolysis product of a methoxychloro-organosiloxane ("Drisil" is a Registered Trade Mark). The solvent may be an alcohol preferably a mixture of methyl and ethyl alcohols, or a mixture of white spirit and methyl alcohol. The compositions may contain catalytic amounts of an amine such as piperidine. According to the Provisional Specification any organosiloxane may be used and the compositions need not be water free.
