In apparatus for moulding lollies from a strand of sugar a rotating drum 1 has a series of moulding cavities 2, round its periphery; a corresponding series of dies 4 which are parallel to the drum axis and slidable from one end of the cavity; and a series of flaps 3 pivoted at the periphery of the drum so that each flap encloses either one or the halves of two adjacent cavities in the drum. Each lolly is moulded in a space formed by recesses 5, 6, 7 in the die, drum and flaps respectively and the sticks 9 are inserted into the lolly through openings 8.
