Abstract
Azo dyestuffs of the general formula <FORM:0944410/C3/1> wherein R4 stands for the residue of a diazo component being free of sulphonic and carboxylic acid groups, R and R1, which may be the same or different, are alkyl groups containing up to 5 carbon atoms, which may be substituted by halogen atoms, R2 is a hydrogen atom or an alkoxy radical, R3 denotes a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, alkoxy or acetylamino radical and the radicals R5 stand for the same or different alkylene radicals containing 2 to 4 carbon atoms. R4 may stand for a diazo component of the benzene or aromatic heterocyclic series which contains at least one negative substituent preferably at least one halogen atom or a cyano, nitro or alkyl sulphone group. The dyes are produced by conventional coupling procedures or by acylating with an appropriate aliphatic carboxylic acid chloride an appropriate hydroxyalkylamino substituted azo dye. Heterocyclic starting materials specified include a substituted thiazole, thiodiazole, benzthiazole and acetothiophene. The dyes are employed in dyeing aromatic polyesters and polyamides. Examples are furnished.
