Abstract

A paint removing composition is obtained by mixing in order (a) soda ash with (b) a paste of lime and water, (c) adding soft soap, (d) crushed lump ammonium carbonate, (e) sodium hydrosulphite, and finally (f) 0.880 ammonia solution. In a preferred embodiment (a) comprises 15-16 parts by weight, (b) comprises a paste of 16-18 parts lime and 40 parts water, (c) comprises 2 parts, (d) comprises 2 parts, (e) comprises 1 part and (f) comprises 2 parts. The surface to be stripped is coated with the stripper, left for 20 minutes or more, and the stripper and paint then sponged off with cold water.
