Abstract

943,804. Rack-mounted electrical equipmerit. PYE Ltd. Dec. 7, 1961 [Dec. 8, 1960], No. 42294/60. Heading H1R. Electronic apparatus is mounted on one or more panels each of which is supported for swinging movement between a position in which the panel is located in the apparatus and a further position in which access can be obtained for testing purposes. In the arrangement shown, each panel consists of a front plate 4 carrying a vertical plate 3 which itself supports insulating component-carrying plates 6 by insulating pillars 5. Front plates 4 are each provided with pair of spring clips 13 which engage a rod 12 to act as hinges and to allow complete withdrawal of the panel if desired. The panel may rest in its " out " position on a padded support 16 provided with a locating hole for a pin 18. Connection to the components is by a flexible cable 9 and a plug-and-socket connection moulded on to the fixed housing or the panel itself. Printed wiring may be provided for the components. An arrangement is described with reference to the Provisional Specification in which the hinge is mounted on the bottom edge of panel 4.
