Abstract

1,135,194. Mounting electrical components. SPILLERS Ltd., and P. P. MORISON. 21 Feb., 1966 [8 March, 1965], No. 9634/65. Heading H1R. In a device for housing electrical components, at least one mounting panel 12 carrying components (not shown) is mounted in a support frame for pivotal movement about two mutually perpendicular axes. The frame comprises a front facia 30 with locking means 42 and an external handle (not shown), side panels 38, 40, and a rear panel (not shown) having mounted thereon a tag-board to allow for interconnection between a plurality of panels 12 mounted mutually parallel in the frame, and a multiplug connector which mates with a socket connector when the frame is mounted in a rack. Each panel 12 has a base portion 44 secured to a support arm 46, which is attached by a hollow bolt 50 to a support member 48. Support members 48 are pivotally assembled with cylindrical sleeves (56, 58, Fig. 5, not shown) and spacers (64) between a front panel (not shown) and the rear panel, to permit each support panel 12 to be pivotally displaced through 90 degrees in its own plane to a position out of the frame, after removal of side panel 38 or 40. When so displaced, the panel 12 may also be pivoted on bolt 50 to allow access to both sides of the panel. Alternate panels 12 are attached to members 48 on opposite sides of the assembly; and when in the frame, panels 12 are secured by bolts 72 captive in a rail 68. Bolts 50, members 48, and associated sleeves and spacers, form conduits for the passage of conductors between panels 12 and the tag-board; the space between front facia 30 and the front panel may house additional components, conductors for which are passed through conduits 66.
