Abstract

943,675. Refrigerators. FOSTER REFRIGERATION CORPORATION. Jan. 1, 1962, No. 63/62. Heading F4H. A refrigerating apparatus for storing food or other perishable products comprises a product-transporting cart on freely movable casters and an insulated cabinet having a door opening for entry and exit of the cart, the insulated bottom wall of the cabinet having grooves forming spaced tracks for the casters which are directed into each groove by a combined guide and ramp. The refrigerator cabinet shown is arranged to receive four carts such as 11 through separate doors 16. Each track is formed by a metal channel 32 having side flanges 38, 39 which overlie shouldered edges of the groove formed in the plastic foam insulating material 28. At the entrance to each track, a fitting 45 is attached to the metal sheathing 27 of the cabinet and includes curved guide flanges 48 and a hinged ramp plate 47. The interior of the cabinet is partitioned by evaporators 18 and air is circulated over the evaporators by fans 18a. The refrigerating machinery is housed in a unit 17. The cabinet may have doors on both sides in which case the tracks pass right through and have a guide and ramp fitting at each end.
