Abstract

943,229. Textiles treating apparatus. W.WATKINS. Oct. 27, 1961 [July 28, 1960], No.26209/60. Heading D1L. Apparatus for the liquid treatment of openwidth fabrics comprises a series of hollow supports 1 arranged with their longitudinal axes in a common plane inclined to the vertical, each support having one or more liquid outlets 6 along its length and arranged to alternate from side to side of said plane such that fabric 7 passing under and over the supports in succession rides over the respective outlets. The fabric 7 may be taken from a batch 3 and after treatment passed through mangle rolls 5. In use pressure liquid e.g. wash water is supplied to the support tubes 1 and the liquid issuing from the slots 6 lifts the fabric off the supports such that it rides on a cushion of the liquid. The supports 1 may be provided with adjustable means at one or both ends to adjust the operative length of the slots to suit the width of fabric to be treated.
