In a pneumatic relay a flapper 6 is normally biased by the jet from a nozzle 15 away from a nozzle 5 which is connected to a bellows 3 which actuates the valve member 1 of a supply-exhaust valve 2 having an output line 10. A vane 20, 21 connected to a measuring instrument 23 interrupts the jet at a predetermined measured value. When used to control the filling of drums with liquid the measuring instrument measures weight and the line 10 is connected to a diaphram actuated liquid supply valve.
