Abstract

942,100. Dental mirrors. SIC PRODUCTS Ltd. Sept. 28, 1961 [Oct. 4, 1960], No. 34898/61. Heading A5R. In order to keep a dental, or similar, mirror clear of moisture and solid particles it is rotated at high speed. In one form the mirror 3 is mounted on a turbine wheel 6 which is rotatable on a spindle 4 in a bearing 5. It is driven by compressed air admitted through a pipe 7 and duct 2 while exhaust air returns through a parallel duct in the handpiece 1 to a discharge tube 8. The mirror may be given greater rotational stability by attaching a disc - like member to its spindle and locating this between two plate-like bearing members. It is also proposed to drive the mirror through a flexible cable from an external motor.
