A machine for the production of lined packages from a cardboard blank and an inner lining, e.g. of waxed or metallized paper, metal foil or plastics material conveys the blank over one path and the lining over another path to be combined synchronously with the blank and has an accelerator for the blanks to compensate for the lag they have acquired during the preceding stages so that they will contact the rear face of a stop with their leading edges for sufficient time to enable a subsequent stop to enter behind each blank and, as a result of a renewed lag in the blank caused by retarding rulers 18 and 19, contact its trailing edge. The schematic layout shows blanks fed in direction 10 by belts 11, 16, on to the conveyer belt 24 carrying spaced stops and travelling past accelerating rollers 60, 61 and rulers 18, 19, to a gluing station where spring-loaded rollers 35, 36 press the blanks against gluing roller 33 supplied from reservoir 31 and having a wiper blade 34. The blanks then pass through rulers 37, 38 and are united with their linings by press roller 54. Linings are drawn from store roller 39 by rollers 42, 43, are folded at 44 into a tube, are welded or glued to that shape at 45, and then pass roller 46 to cutting roller 47 to whose surface the linings are sucked by vacuum outlets while separate lengths are cut off by knife 48 magnetically controlled at 49. The rule 52 guides the pieces into the exact position over the blanks before assembly at 53. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 833,296 and 833,297.
