941,383. Television. EPSYLON RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO. Ltd. Feb. 15, 1960 [Feb. 24, 1959], No. 6291/59. Heading H4F. Messages written on a sheet of transparent material 11 which is edge illuminated by means of lamps 14, 15 carried by tubular light reflecting members 12, 13 slotted to receive the edges of the sheet are scanned by a television camera 17 to produce signals for reproduction at a remote position. The camera and the members 12, 13 are carried by an enclosure 16 having a non-reflecting inner surface and the camera lens is focused on the writing surface of sheet 11. The sheet is, preferably, of a colour to which the camera is most sensitive and may be of laminated construction in which case at least one of the laminµ is so coloured. The writing is effected by chalk or crayon &c. and correction for the lateral reversal of the message effected by scanning the camera and reproducing tubes in opposite directions.
